Gracie Jane and Christy Love sit across from each other, each scanning the last page of the settlement. A few beats later they both look up and nod – everything checks out. Both women are lawyers on opposite sides of a long-running dispute, and today they snuck off to Gracie's place to put the thing to bed without a judge breathing down their necks. With the papers signed, the formal tone melts away. They laugh about how the whole mess felt endless, with screaming clients and a no-nonsense judge who didn’t take anyone’s shit. Gracie says she never expected that “seeing more of each other” would mean slogging through settlement drafts. Turns out they went to law school together and nursed secret crushes the whole time. The case kept them at arm’s length; conflict-of-interest rules, no flirting. Now the ink’s dry, the file’s closed, and they push the documents aside. Christy leans across the table first, Gracie meets her halfway, and their mouths crash together in a hungry, long-overdue kiss.
